Some time after the tannery closed a sawmill opened in its place. After refurbishing the dam and erecting a new building, the first log was sawn on January 26, 1889. The frost was so bad that first winter that it nearly blew out the new dam. Brrrr! Sawmill is a spacious 1st floor room featuring wide plank pine walls, a seating area, a queen sized poster bed, hand braided rugs, primitive hand built furniture, luxury bedding and a private bath with wainscot walls and a large tiled shower.
